Action regeneration – starter as new
The starter is a DC engine whose task is to start the car’s internal combustion engine quickly and without any problems. As an electrical-mechanical subassembly, due to its function, it is one of the most demanding receivers of electric energy from the battery and can take 200 to 600 amps at a time. The power of the starter varies depending on the type of car and oscillates between 0.4 and 10 kW.
Why is it worth regenerating the starter?
An efficient starter in 100% does not in any way weaken the battery operation, and when turning the key in the ignition provides the engine with a start, which is the minimum, require speed. Depending on the type of engine, this speed varies and amounts respectively – in petrol engines from 40 to 100 rpm, and in diesel engines is in the range of about 100 to 200 rpm. During this time, the starter must overcome the resistance of several factors that make starting difficult, such as: friction of bearings on the engine crankshaft and the initial movement of pistons in cylinders. Starter Company regenerates only the original starters, i.e. those that were factory installed in the vehicles. Repair of damaged parts in the starter extends its life, ensuring efficient start of the car engine.
How does the process of regeneration of the starter proceed?
During the regeneration process, the old starter is disassembled into parts, which are subject to meticulous diagnostics of the degree of wear and tear to check whether they can still be used. The most commonly used parts are brushes, bearings and sleeves, as well as bendix and electromagnet and contacts. Bendiks is a gearing that consists of a unidirectional clutch with a spring and a pinion. In order for the starter to function properly, the bendiks must be coupled to the flywheel. That is why it is so important to regenerate all components. All these components are replaced by new, high-quality parts.
Cleaning the starter housing
The starter housing is another important component that is carefully cleaned of grease and grease by means of a sand blasting machine during the regeneration process. After this process, all parts are reassembled in such a way as to ensure proper operation of the machine. The whole is covered with a suitable corrosion protection coating, which extends the life of the entire mechanism.
Verification of efficiency after regeneration
After full regeneration and folding of the starter, check that the mechanism is working properly. On a professional test table, the regenerated starter is tested for power parameters, interlocking, and the correctness of the electromagnet’s operation. Detailed information on the course of the entire regeneration process can be found on the page . Before we decide to regenerate the starter, let’s check how it is done, because not all companies perform a full regeneration of the starter, but only to clean and paint the casing.
