Nowadays the combination of these two values is extremely important. Furniture handles, next to hinges, rails or feet, are one of the accessories for proper functioning of every household cabinet. Apart from the fact that they should be comfortable to use, preferably coated with non-slip and protective substances, it would be good for them to blend in with the decor of the room creating a harmonious whole. Functional handles should primarily be installed in the kitchen, so that food preparation is as quick and safe as possible. An example of a frequently used handle is the push-to-open model. With two hands, you can press the drawer with your elbow and pull out what you need.
It is important to choose the type of handle according to the size of the cabinet. The smaller the cabinet, the smaller the handle should be – remember this. Knobs are often used for small cabinets in chests of drawers, whereas wide kitchen plate cabinets are fitted with similarly wide strip handles. This makes for a well-balanced and logical composition.
Simple, metal or glossy handles are most often chosen for a modern style, while porcelain, with decorative inlays, or ceramic are most often chosen for a rustic style.
For correct installation of the handles you will need a spirit level for even mounting of the handle, a drill/driver, a pencil and two dexterous hands. Use the pencil to mark the level points where the screws should be drilled into. The holes will be through holes, so it is a good idea to put a shim in the form of a piece of board so that the end of the hole is not torn. Optionally, after drilling you can remove the dust and chips of the cabinet with a hoover. The final step will be to install the concrete bracket by placing the screws in the holes. There is only one point left – with the help of a screwdriver you tighten the handles. Done.
It should be remembered that a handle should be precisely made in order to serve for a long time. Quality plays a very important role here. If you choose a niche handle, it may break off over time – and the holes in the cabinet will remain. Then not only will you have to pay for another handle, but it will also have to be identical in size, which can be quite a hassle.
