A cold is a viral illness that most commonly affects the respiratory system. Cold viruses, such as rhinoviruses, cause inflammation in the mucous membranes of the nose and throat. Symptoms usually appear gradually and may include: Runny and stuffy nose, Cough, Sore throat, Headache, Mild fever, Fatigue.

Allergies, on the other hand, occur when our immune system reacts to substances that are normally harmless, but our body identifies them as dangerous. These substances, called allergens, can be diverse and vary from person to person. Allergy symptoms can occur after exposure to the allergen, even in small amounts. Common allergy symptoms include: Sneezing, Watery and itchy nose, Itchy, watery eyes, Skin itching, Rash, Sudden bouts of coughing.

Remember to consult a doctor if symptoms persist or become bothersome.
